Q1:

What led you to join the company?

I first encountered Osaka Blower when I saw a company profile on television during my third year of high school. The sight of employees looking like they were enjoying their work left an impression on me and sparked my interest. Later, I found a design position listed at my school and took part in a company tour. At the time I didn't have deep knowledge of design, but I felt drawn to work involved in making products, and thought, "I want to try my hand at design at this company too," which is why I decided to join. I'm still grateful that they welcomed me despite my lack of experience.

Q2:

Was there any gap between your expectations and reality after joining?

When I first joined, I had almost no knowledge of design, so there was a lot I didn’t understand, which made me anxious. There was a lot to learn, including how to operate CAD software, how to read drawings, and other knowledge needed for the job, and I felt confused at first. However, the people around me would speak to me in a friendly way, and I was able to naturally settle into the workplace. I was also able to build up my knowledge gradually through training and learning on the job. Even when there was something I didn't understand, there was an environment where the skilled workers on the floor would carefully explain things to me, and I was very grateful to be able to learn something new every day.

Q3:

What do you find rewarding about your work?

I mainly design blowers. We make both marine and land-based blowers, and I'm mainly in charge of land-based products. There's no fixed "correct" shape for land-based products, which makes it challenging to work out the optimal shape for each customer's requirements. That makes it all the more rewarding when something I've designed takes physical form or helps solve a customer's problem. Another appealing aspect of this job is that listening to the machinists and assembly workers on the floor as I prepare drawings can lead to better products.

Q4:

Do you have a message for job seekers?

Osaka Blower is a workplace where the people around you are friendly and easy to talk to, with an atmosphere that makes it easy to ask for advice. Design work here doesn’t stand alone; products are built in cooperation with people on the shop floor. I feel that being able to grow while coming into contact with the wisdom and experience of many people is one of the things I find appealing about working at Osaka Blower. This is a workplace where you can grow little by little, even starting with no experience, as long as you have a willingness to learn. I hope anyone with an interest in manufacturing will take on the challenge.
