Q1:

What led you to join the company?

I had known about Osaka Blower for a while, partly because my father worked there. When I was thinking about what to do after graduating from high school, my father suggested, “Why don't you take a look at Osaka Blower?” which led me to tour the company. Since I had always liked manufacturing and was the type of person who liked to work steadily and patiently on one thing, seeing products being made on the factory floor made me feel, “I want to be able to make things like this, too.” That feeling is why I decided to join.

Q2:

Was there any gap between your expectations and reality after joining?

Since I hadn't studied specialized technical skills in school, everything was unfamiliar to me when I first joined. I had a lot of anxiety at first about things like the names of tools and how to use them, where parts were located, and how to proceed with tasks, and I sometimes wondered, “Can I do this?” However, my senior colleagues explained things carefully, one by one, and I was gradually able to get used to the work. There is an atmosphere where it's easy to talk to someone about things I don't understand or feel uncertain about, and I feel that I am gradually deepening my understanding of the work I'm responsible for on auxiliary blowers for marine engines.

Q3:

What do you find rewarding about your work?

I currently handle assembly work for auxiliary blowers used in marine engines. My main tasks include adjusting the inner diameter of impellers, centering the labyrinth seals, checking bolt counts, and performing visual inspections. I pay attention even to small details and carry out each task reliably, one by one. Recently, I've had more opportunities to be trusted with assembly work on my own. I still feel some anxiety at times, but it makes me very happy to see a product I've worked on complete its test run and move on to the next process without issue. Being able to feel that my work contributes to the completion of the product is what makes this job so rewarding.

Q4:

Do you have a message for job seekers?

When I first joined, there was a lot I didn't understand and I felt anxious, but my senior colleagues carefully taught me about the work and addressed my concerns, and little by little I've been able to do more. I'm not yet at a stage where I can say I have full confidence, but I do feel that I, too, am involved in making our products. I'm currently assembling AUX units used in engines for tankers and other vessels; there is responsibility involved, but I find it just as rewarding. I think everyone starts out not knowing much, but this is a workplace where you can grow with the support of the senior colleagues around you. For anyone interested in manufacturing, or who wants to build up their skills gradually, I think this is work where you can find it truly rewarding.
